How to access Network shares from any Android device

After the video of me showing you guys on how to set up a Network Attached Storage through your home router, many of the comments were if you could access it from your phone and how.

  • So first you going to get your phone and go into playstore. Search for ‘Network Browser’.
There are many apps that come up but the one I found to work most efficently and which I have been using was Network browser.
  • Go ahead and install Network Browser

Once you open the app, allow it to access media on your device. This allows it to scan the network.
What I’ve found easiest besides scanning to add the network, is adding a manual connection.

  • Then you’re going to go ahead and fill in your IP address of your network storage.

If you have a server 2008 network share or security share, then you’d fill in username/ password and all the other things.

  • Once you’ve connected you’d be able to see everything you have on your Network attached storage.

That’s it! All you do is connect and you can access whatever you have on your share. One of the features of this app is that you can upload files or folders onto your share. You can delete shares and everything in between.

I find this useful when I am uploading videos. It doesn’t mean me connecting a cable, copying the video to the phone then uploading it. It is much quicker and hassle free.
