Sony Unveils the ZV-E10 II and E PZ 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II Lens Kit
Sony Electronics introduces the ZV-E10 II, the next-gen of their popular mirrorless ZV-E10 camera. Designed for content creators of all levels, the original ZV-E10 is a staple in Sony’s APS-C ZV series, offering ease, compactness, and versatility. The ZV-E10 II retains beloved features like Creative Looks, Product Showcase Setting, Background Defocus, and a vari-angle flip screen, enhancing usability and sophistication.
The ZV-E10 II upgrades its internal hardware with a new 26MP Exmor R™ CMOS sensor and BIONZ XR™ image processor. It improves autofocus and video capabilities, introduces Cinematic Vlog Setting and a new vertical UI, and features a larger Sony Z battery for extended use and enhanced connectivity. Compact and lightweight at about 377 grams, it prioritizes simplicity in content creation, allowing creators to focus on creativity rather than technical details.
Additionally, Sony announces the E PZ 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II (SEL1650/2), a compact APS-C power zoom lens available separately or bundled with the ZV-E10 II. This upgraded kit lens is lightweight and features enhanced autofocus (AF) and video capabilities compared to its predecessor.
Design
The ZV-E10 II utilizes recycled materials, including SORPLAS™, for its body, balancing environmental responsibility with functionality. Its packaging is crafted from Sony’s innovative “Original Blended Material,” incorporating bamboo, sugar cane fiber, and recycled paper sourced from the market. Over the last 11 years, Sony has replaced around 395 tons of virgin plastic with recycled plastic in their digital cameras and camcorders, demonstrating their commitment to sustainability.
Features
The E PZ 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II lens represents Sony’s 75th E-mount offering and is designed as an ideal companion for the new ZV-E10 II camera, thanks to its compact size and versatile focal range equivalent to 24-75mm in full-frame terms. Its optical design, featuring four aspherical elements and one ED (Extra-low Dispersion) element, ensures high-resolution performance. With a close focusing distance of 9.8 inches (0.25m) at the wide end and 11.8 inches (0.30m) at the telephoto end, and a maximum magnification of 0.215x, the lens excels at capturing fine details up close. When the camera is powered off, it retracts to a compact length of approximately 1.25 inches (31.3mm). Weighing around 3.8 ounces (107 grams)
The smooth and practical power zoom of the E PZ 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II is perfect for video recording, with continuous autofocus available throughout the zoom range. It combines built-in optical stabilization with in-body stabilization, including Active Mode, to reduce motion blur in videos. The lens also supports in-body breathing compensation, minimizing changes in the angle of view during focusing to ensure steady and seamless footage.
The ZV-E10 II includes two primary features intended to produce professional-quality content directly from the camera: Creative Looks and Cinematic Vlog Setting. When capturing both photos and videos, users can immediately enhance their visuals by selecting from ten Creative Look options: Standard, Portrait, Neutral, Vivid, Vivid 2, Film, Instant, Soft Highkey, Black & White, and Sepia. These looks can be further customized through eight parameters, allowing creators to adjust their content precisely. Once customized, up to six custom styles can be saved directly in the camera for convenient access and reuse.
The ZV-E10 II enables creators to effortlessly create cinematic-quality videos with its Cinematic Vlog Setting. This feature automatically optimizes aspect ratio, frame rate, and autofocus transition speed for cinematic video capture. Users can further enhance their footage by choosing from five “Looks,” including S-Cinetone™ for enhanced skin tones, and applying one of four “Moods” to emphasize specific colors, providing diverse options for creative expression.
