TUF Gaming AX5400 Router
Reminding you of the evil Decepticons the logo has a cool RGB light feature. The router has an aluminum heat sink with nano carbon coating and plenty of vents to effectively produce cooling. The TUF Gaming AX5400 is supports the 2.4ghz on the 2×2 configuration while the 5gz works on the 4×4.This means it has 4x the network efficiency with OFDMA and 160mhz channels to choose from. The design is a black plastic finish, with metal protectors around all of the ports and 6 evenly spaced antennas.
The router supports Link Aggregation or link teaming which allows a fusion of LAN 1 link and LAN 2 link which each give you separately 1gb, now producing 2gb link. This can also be done with WAN port 1 and WAN port 4. Thanks to OFDMA and the 4×4 MIMO configuration we get a wider coverage and a better Wi-Fi experience. Due to the 6 antennas the router is able to separate the 2,4ghz and 5ghz. Beam forming is another feature of the TUF Gaming AX5400 which allows the router to push the signal instead of everywhere now directly to your connected device. You can’t forget the ASUS mesh support which allows many routers to act as a mesh network increasing coverage and Wi-Fi stability.
The router allows for configuration changes into 3 gaming modes. First is the mobile gaming mode which prioritizes traffic from connected phones opened to any games. Second is the gaming port that prioritizes all gaming traffic. Last gaming mode is the open NAT support which you can use to specify which traffic needs to be prioritized. This router also has the ability for simultaneous gaming and VPN function which allows for VPN under you gaming network while allowing other traffic unaffected and vice versa. The TUF Gaming AX6000 speed on the 2.4ghz bandwidth supports 1148mps and on the 5ghz it supports 4804mbs. On the 2.4ghz bandwidth it teams up the connections in a 4×4 configuration and for 5ghz bandwidth it teams up the connections in 2 4×4 configuration. The design of the AX6000 is exactly the same as the AX5400, when something works why change it.
The AX6000 also has Link Aggregation and also allows for aggregating of the WAN port but teams up the WAN and the WAN port 5 giving a total of 5GB link. Offers like the AX5400 wider coverage and better Wi-Fi experience through OFDMA and 4×4 MIMO configuration. Beam forming is included as well as the same 3 gaming modes, VPN fusion commercial grade security, Advanced monitoring and all of the other features that come with the AX5400.

The TUF Gaming AX5400 Router retails for around R3000 while the TUF Gaming AX6000 Router retails between R3600 and R4700. As you can gather from the name these routers are market towards gamers and not just your regular weekend gamers, oh no we’re talking about the hardcore online junkies that need a stable connection to be on the regular playing field as the rest of the world.
Through TechSceneZA testing we’ve found a lot of value and functionality from these routers in producing stable internet. Unfortunately due to our low internet lines we weren’t able to entirely harness the awesome power of these amazing routers. These routers were built to provide necessary stability that South African gamers just don’t have and is one of the choices of climbing over the hurdles of online gaming.
