For the first time ever, Amazon Prime members in South Africa will be able to shop Prime Day.

Amazon has announced the launch of Amazon Prime in South Africa, providing an unparalleled combination of unlimited free delivery, savings, and entertainment benefits all in one membership.

Already enjoyed around the world by members in 26 other countries, Prime benefits include unlimited free Same-Day and Next-Day Delivery with no minimum spend; exclusive access to Prime Day, Amazon’s annual global shopping event, and early access to great deals; access to popular award-winning international movies and series on Prime Video; and free gaming with Amazon Luna, with a free (monthly) Twitch channel subscription.

How much does Amazon Prime cost in South Africa?

Customers can sign up for Prime at www.amazon.co.za/prime for a 30-day free trial and then join for a monthly fee of R59 ($3.60) or annual fee of R399 ($24), an annual saving of R309 ($19) or 44%. For ease of payment, Amazon.co.za customers can conveniently pay online using their South African debit or credit card.

What are the benefits of Amazon Prime in South Africa?

  1. Fast, free delivery: Amazon Prime members will get fast, free delivery of Prime eligible items across a wide range of categories including everyday essentials, groceries, electronics, home, sporting gear, and kitchen including:
    • Unlimited free Same-Day Delivery on all orders placed before midday in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Pretoria with no minimum spend.
    • Unlimited free Next-Day Delivery with no minimum spend.
  2. Prime Video: Amazon Prime members will have access to unlimited streaming of award-winning exclusive Amazon Originals and international licensed movies and series. Prime members will be able to enjoy series including Reacher, Duplicity, and The Summer I Turned Pretty.
