Out the box
The Xiaomi TV Box S gen 2 comes with the use of Google assistant giving it some amazing functionality. The 360 IR remote allows you to point anywhere and input will register on the TV Box so no more kung fu hand action to change the channel. My favorite feature as always is the Chromecast giving me the ability to cast my phones screen onto the TV enabling me to watch my content easier.

The Xiaomi TV Box S Gen 2 is different to the TV stick where it has HDMI 2.1 Port, an additional USB 2.0 Port, a power interface and it also has an audio device that is built in directly onto the box. The remote is a simplistic type which is fairly similar to other Xiaomi remotes with the exception of the added Youtube and Apps buttons. It has the power button in the middle at the very top, below that is your Ok google button, under that is the direction pad and enter button, below that on the left is your Xiaomi TV +, next to that is your back button, next to that is your home button, below that is your Netflix button and right of that is your Amazon Prime button, below that is your YouTube button and right of that is your Apps button and below that close the button is your volume buttons.
The Xiaomi TV Box S gen 2 is simple to set up also a heads up to bring your own batteries as they are sold separately. First and foremost will be to connect you power adapter and HDMI cable in their respective ports. Once you power the TV Box on it will want to connect to the Remote. You will then need to select your region before having to connect with Google. All you have to do is go onto your google app and next to search is the mic for voice search and the google lens, use it to scan the barcode, make sure your mobile is connected to same Wi-Fi as your Box. Lastly connect to your Wi-Fi and your ready to enjoy hours of viewable entertainment.
The Xiaomi TV Box S Gen 2 is slightly different to the TV stick where with the TV stick its simple small and above all its plug and play with the ability to carry it where ever you go where as with the Box its more of a loyal husband but given the USB slot your able to plug in a hardrive or USB and go to town with other media. So its generally intended for anyone that wants the 4K experience with the ability to watch offline content. The Xiaomi TV Box S Gen 2 retails for R999 and can go for specials around R800 if your lucky.
With its 4K video output, faster processor, more RAM and Android 11 OS the resulted combination allows for a better and smoother viewing experience. The Xiaomi TV Box S Gen 2 gives you an online and offline choice of high def content of your choice and for these reasons we at TechSceneZA give it an 8.5/10.
