KwaZulu-Natal’s largest pop culture gathering brings cosplay, eSports, trading card tournaments, creator panels and hundreds of vendors to the playTSOGO Globe for three days, 18–20 December 2026.

DURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA — This December, Durban’s fans no longer have to travel to find a convention built for them. From 18 to 20 December 2026, The Big Bang Infinity Convention takes over the playTSOGO Globe at Suncoast, bringing together cosplayers, gamers, collectors, artists and families for what organisers are calling the city’s biggest pop culture event to date.

Hosted by The Big Bang Store, Durban’s specialist trading card and hobby gaming retailer, and produced by Fair Trade Events, the three-day convention is designed to give KwaZulu-Natal’s growing fan community a home-grown, large-scale event of a kind previously found only in Johannesburg or overseas.

“Durban has always had the fans, the collectors and the cosplayers — what it hasn’t had is a home built for all of them, in one place, at the same time. This is that home.” — Zane Ramnundlall, Director, The Big Bang Store

Across the three days, visitors can expect cosplay showcases, eSports tournaments and dedicated gaming zones, trading card game tournaments and organised play, creator and industry panels, artist alleys and vendor stalls, official licensed merchandise, food stalls, and special activations including a Pokémon-themed party and a KPop Demon Hunters stage experience.

A First for the City

While similar large-format pop culture conventions have run in Johannesburg for several years, Durban has not previously hosted an event of this scale. Organisers say the convention was built specifically to serve KwaZulu-Natal’s community of collectors, gamers and cosplayers, many of whom have historically had to travel out of province — or order internationally — to access this kind of event and merchandise.
